Helara,

David was a unique individual that I always enjoyed seeing at work and crossing paths with after he and I both retired.

My condolences and prayers for your loss.

I remember fondly watching NBC Nightly News with David at Capital. David was a larger than life personality. He will be missed. Please accept my condolences.

It was such an honor to be able to spend some time with David, Helara, and David's mother Annette the same day of his passing. Annette and I visited him at Riverside Hospital less than 12 hours before his passing. We are grateful to friend Pam Dennewitz of London for driving Annette from Springfield to the hospital.

I have so many fond memories of David over the years--the first was the day he was adopted. I was 16 years his senior, and told everyone who would listen at my high school that we were welcoming a new cousin into the family.

Then there were all the family times together--many Saturdays or Sundays with David and his sister Susan at their grandparents, Roy and Viola Gossard's house in Sedalia (Midway), Ohio; my babysitting David and Susan in Lakeside while Jim and Annette went to church conferences; enjoying the special holiday we named "Christgiving" when we could gather to celebrate both Thanksgiving and Chrismas together between the two holidays; visiting David at Capital University before his graduation with my infant daughter and David's feeding her a baby food jar of spinach that she shared back at him all over his shirt; my family and I going to David and Helara's beautiful wedding; being invited to Christmas open houses at David and Helara's home in Upper Arlington, marked by one of David's many flags flying from the flagpole in their yard...so many wonderful memories!

David was a special and unique human being who will be missed.

David was always an interesting person as he visited the Civil War Reenactments, wearing his uniforms and smoking his pipe. We are sadden with your loss, Helara.

I have known Dave for over 45 years. We were roommates at Capital University. Introduced me to the Putt-Putt tournaments at the Northern Lights course. Was a member at his wedding. He made several tapes of Civil War music that I listen to when I was healing at my house for several weeks. Dave will be missed by those who knew him at Capital.

He was probably the only person I knew that was more of a Star Trek fan than I am. The world was a happier and friendly place with him in it.
