David Charles Simms, 31, of Raleigh, NC, passed away Friday, December 29, 2023, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC, surrounded by his family.

David had a great sense of humor and always made everyone laugh. He had a heart of gold - compassionate and giving toward everyone. David also loved animals, especially his German Shepherd, Roscoe, and his dog, Smokey. He adored his family and loved spending time with his two nieces. He was self-employed and ran a successful business in the internet service industry. 

David was preceded in death by his grandfathers, James Simms and William Heidlebaugh; and grandmother, Roseann Heidlebaugh. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, Charles and Cindy Simms and Susan and Richard Dunaway; sister, Sara (Drew) Ingram; nieces, Everette and Elliott Ingram; grandfather, Blaine Klinedinst; and grandmother, Polly Simms.

A funeral service for David will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Midway Methodist Church at 2:00PM with Bishop Tim Smith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David’s name to SPCA of Wake County, 200 Petfinder Ln, Raleigh, NC 27603, or your local animal rescue.
