David "Dave" Sinclair, 74, of Sandoval passed away with his beloved family by his side, Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital, in Centralia. He was born on November 26, 1950, in Centralia, IL, to Earl Jr. and Carlin (Hanks) Sinclair. He married Cheryl Higdon in Odin, Illinois July 15, 1972.
Dave is survived by his mother, Carlin Thomas; his wife that he spent 53 loving years of marriage with, Cheryl Sinclair; his beloved daughters, Brenda Kay (Johnnie) Dodson of Iuka, Belinda Renae (Tim) Alvis of Salem. He was a loving Papa to his grandchildren, Dillon "Amigo" Dodson, Michael (Katie) Dodson, Trisha (Grant) Green, Ashley (Kelton) Knight; his treasured great-grandchildren, Adella Dodson, Remy Dodson, Riggs Green, Brookstyn Knight, Ana Knight and Clara Knight; his dear siblings, Judy Kay (Raymond) Martin, Randy (LaVona) Sinclair. He was loved by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Family that awaited him in heaven was his father, Earl Sinclair Jr. and his brother, Scott Sinclair and wife Mary.
David was an Odin high school graduate of 1968. Dave was a hard worker who devoted himself to his family. He spent years in the oil fields and hauling propane. David's life was rooted in faith and family. He was a devoted member of Odin Bethel Baptist Church, where he worshiped alongside his beloved wife, Cheryl. He was a wonderful husband to Cheryl. A fiercely protective father to his girls. A loving, and fun "Papa" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After retirement Dave never missed a chance to spoil his grandchildren with sweets while watching them. He enjoyed getting his four grandchildren together for cousin sleepovers and was known for the best pancakes he would whip up the next morning. As a family they took lots of family camping trips. Dave loved playing golf with his wife and together they cherished the role of Papa and Nana. He also found joy in quieter moments when he was fishing, rabbit hunting, or simply enjoying the outdoors.
To his family, his friends, and all who knew him, Dave will be remembered as a man of strength and loyalty. A supportive Brother and Son, a loyal Friend, a devoted Husband, Dad and Papa. His greatest happiness came not from the miles he drove or the work he did, but from the love he shared with Cheryl and their family.
