David Sinise Obituary
David Sinise, Jr.
David Sinise, Jr., age 95, of Norwalk, CT, passed away December 12, 2025, at Norwalk Hospital, surrounded by family. David was born in Blue Island, IL to David Sinise and Lucille Sinise on May 22, 1930. David was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Joy Geria Sinise, and he leaves behind his five devoted sons and their families: Alan Sinise of Bethel, CT; Steven Sinise and his wife Mary of Trumbull, CT; Jeffrey Sinise and his wife Missy of Bloomsbury, NJ: David Sinise and his wife Krissy of Stratford, CT; and Mark Sinise and his wife Lisa of Trumbull, CT. David was known as "PopPop" to his nine grandchildren who were as devoted to him as he was to them. The Sinise grandchildren in order of birth are: Matthew, Jenna, Christopher, Katie, Sarah, Shane, Kara, Isabelle, and Domenick.
David attended Dwight D. Eisenhower High School in Blue Island, IL, where he enjoyed football and his baseball and bowling teams. His bowling skills remained, and his sons remember him as being an amazing bowler. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and was stationed in Long Island, NY. Because David was far from Illinois, a service friend would bring David with him to his family's home in Greenwich when they were on military leave. It was during one these leaves that David met Joy and they fell in love. They became engaged on the night of her high school graduation and were married on Valentine's Day, 1953. After the wedding, David's occupation moved them around, until the couple settled permanently in Norwalk, CT, where they lived together for 50 years and where David remained. They loved sheep dogs and gave a loving home to many rescues over the years. David and Joy made the most of retirement by traveling abroad and visiting Disney World.
David worked hard to provide for his family. After the war, he worked for American Machine and Foundry Company (AMF) in Computer Operations, at Vandenberg Air Force Base, in California, where he focused on Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs) and launch systems. He worked on the lunar module for Grumman and GE Aerospace, in Long Island. He was in Computer Operations for TELSTAT and Norden Systems, followed by work as a construction manager for Peter F. Mitchell Corporation. His last occupation, from which he retired, was as the Construction and Operations Manager for Frank Mercede & Sons.
David was a devout Catholic and after retirement he volunteered often at his church, St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. He was a daily communicant of the Eucharist, and he prayed the Rosary daily. His mind remained sharp until the end of his long life and we are all so thankful for the many years we were able to spend with him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Ave., Norwalk, CT. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Ave., Norwalk, CT.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Norwalk, CT.
