Richard Joseph Lovato, age 53, was a proud and loving father to Alyssa (Jamie) Belzek and a devoted grandfather to Benjamin, Joey, and Mason. He was the cherished son of Judith (nee O’Callaghan) and Richard Lovato. He was a loyal brother to the late Jeff Lovato, Debbie (Scott) Fontaine and Michelle (Miles) Krylowicz, and a fun-loving uncle to Stephanie, Makenna, Lexie, Sydney, and Logan. He also leaves behind a loving extended family and countless friends.

Raised in Blue Island, Illinois, Richard graduated from Eisenhower High School and went on to become a Local 134 electrician, a career that suited his strong work ethic and hands-on nature. He took pride in his skills and wasn’t afraid of hard work.

Richard had a natural knack for buying and selling things and loved the thrill of finding a good deal. He was always tinkering, trading, or working on something new. His true joy, however, was found in Michigan, where he spent many summers and winters being by the lake, playing in the snow or getting dirty in the mud. He loved being outdoors and chasing his next adventure. Richard lived life with energy, confidence, and a sense of fun that was unmistakably his.

Known for his adventurous spirit, big heart, and love for his family, Richard will be remembered for the laughter he brought, the stories he told, and the fearless way he embraced life. Though his time here was far too short, his impact will live on through the family and friends he loved so deeply and the memories they will carry forever.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A second visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service.
