David D. Skaggs, 88, of Chillicothe, went to his Heavenly home to be reunited with his loving wife, on Tuesday morning, May 27, 2025, at his home. He was born on Tuesday, November 3, 1936, in Yuba City, California, a son of the late William P. and Ruby Farnham Skaggs. On June 16, 1956, he married the former Marilyn Eileen Acord, and she preceded him in death on January 10, 2022.
He is survived by his four children; Kay Skaggs-Willett of Brooksville, Florida; Tony Skaggs of Chillicothe, Denise Ray of Chillicothe, Mark (Lora) Skaggs of Chillicothe. Seven grandchildren, Carrie (Pete) Hunt, Lindsey Hammond, Joshua (Dominique) Ray, Erica Dunn, Zach (Meghan) Skaggs, Chelsea Mootz, Coty (Taryn) Skaggs, thirteen great-grandchildren, Blake, Bryce, Haley, Haven, Gabriel, Mia, Cami, Ellisyn, Jameson, Juliana, Rosalyn Eileen, Natalie, Shelby and one on the way. Great-great grandchildren, Austin and Leo, three sisters, Maxine (Calvin) Cochenour, Nancy (Dale) Rhodes, Joy (Bryan) Martin, two brothers, Kenneth (Jenny) Skaggs, Wayne (Diana) Skaggs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marilyn, five sisters, Elaine, Kathy, Virginia, Barbara, Rosemary; two brothers, Louis, Keith, and one grandson-in-law, Kyler Mootz.
David loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is in heaven with Jesus and his beautiful wife.
He was a graduate of Huntington High School. He retired from Mead where he had worked as a senior turbine engineer. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for more than 50 years. He served as a deacon, a trustee and youth leader over the years. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol in Waverly. David enjoyed fishing and golfing. He earned his lifetime membership at the Forest Everhart golf course where he also enjoyed volunteering.
David's family would like to extend a special thank you to National Church Residence Hospice staff, especially Brooke, Brenda, and Chaplain Aaron Hines for their loving care. They would also like to thank their friend, Pam Hinton, for making his last days better while taking care of him.
A funeral service for David will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 1pm in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort with Pastor Robb Fowler officiating. Following the service David will be laid to rest next to his wife Marilyn, in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Family and friends can visit with David's family on Monday, from 12, noon, until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to: National Church Residences, 807 Western Ave., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
