David L. Skiver, age 73, of Hillsdale, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at his home. He was born March 18, 1952, in Hillsdale, to Leo and Betty (Sloan) Skiver. Dave married Vicki Green on September 18, 1976, and she survives.
Dave graduated from Palo Alto High School in California. He served his county in the United States Navy from 1970-1974, and in the Navy Reserves until 1981. Dave received his degree in power engineering from Jackson Community College and later became a licensed electrician, working for Hillsdale Hospital and ConAgra in Quincy. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hillsdale. Dave was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, gardening, and woodworking.
In addition to his wife, Vicki Skiver of Hillsdale, Dave is survived by one daughter, Hope (Paul) Sygnecki of Bronson; one son, Grant Skiver of Hillsdale; one granddaughter, Hanna Sygnecki; and one sister, Leona (Jay) Sattison of Fremont, Indiana.
Dave was preceded in death by his father, Leo Skiver; mother, Betty Skiver Davis; one sister, Deborah Skiver; and one brother, Gerald Skiver.
A memorial service for David Skiver will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hillsdale with Pastor Kara Shaw officiating. Private family interment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsdale. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 PM at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Hillsdale County or Trinity Lutheran Church.
