Douglas A. Avery

Douglas A. "The Fly" Avery, age 67, of Jackson and formerly of Hillsdale, passed away Friday, August 22, 2025, at his home. He was born March 19, 1958, in Jackson to Ruben and Shirley (Peppeard) Avery.

Doug was formerly employed as a truck driver transporting mobile homes. Most recently, he worked for Fairway Products in Hillsdale. Doug enjoyed hunting, listening to music, watching NASCAR, and spending time with the little ones in his family including his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. For the last 16 years, Doug has been a loyal patron, friend, and member of the Here's to You…Pub and Grub family in Hillsdale.

Survivors include three daughters, Carrie McDonald of Jackson, Jennifer (Gene) Powell of Toledo, Ohio, and Lisa Bailey of Jackson; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Doris Typpi, Denise Sunkel, Darlene Avery, and Dorothy (Doug) Preston; one brother, Donald (Wanda) Avery; 3 bonus children, Bobbie Jo, Jamie, and Jessica; several nieces and nephews; and his extended Here's to You…Pub and Grub family and friends.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Dale Avery.

A memorial visitation for Doug Avery will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
