Obituary of David Boyd Smith
David Smith passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, in Titusville, FL with loving family by his side at the age of 74. David was born in Rockledge, FL on February 25th, 1948 to the late Raymond and Hilda Smith. After birth, the family moved to Ohio for a short time before relocating permanently to Brevard County where he resided for the remainder of his life. He would describe his education and work history as the "School of Hard Knocks" because he began working at a young age for his father's businesses, Smith's Amoco Fuel Station followed by Smith Iron & Metal which was later acquired by Yorke Doliner & Company. David spent the next 35+ years as the Operations Manager at Yorke Doliner which was purchased by Trademark Metals Recycling (TMR). During this time, he also had many successful side business ventures such as D&R Enterprises, Space Coast Towing, and finally DBS Storage. David was a generous man who enjoyed many hobbies including boating, shrimping, auto racing, and anything that involved spending time with his family and friends.
David was a loving husband of 51 years to Bonnie Smith, who preceded him in death. He was well-loved and admired by his two sons, David (Lisa) Smith and Donald (Rachele) Smith; his granddaughter, Ashley (Darryl) Crumpton and three grandsons, Dalton (Tara) Smith, Dominick Smith, and Braydon Smith; his four great-grandchildren, Ryah, Aniya, Phoenix, and Bailor; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his only brother, Danny (Linda) Smith, and his two sisters, Susie (Tom) Newton and Cindy (Kenny) Juhst.
David will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. All are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday, March 4th from 2-6 pm at Rockledge Country Club. Funeral services will be held at Ammen Family Funeral Home in Melbourne, FL on Sunday, March 5th at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations be made in David B. Smith's name to The Dale Earnhardt Foundation (http://www.daleearnhardtfoundation.org/contribute) or the Petty Victory Junction (https://victoryjunction.org/tribute).
