David L. Snyder, 89, of Titusville, passed away on December 30, 2025, at the Jefferson Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown.
Dave was born on May 11, 1936, in Franklin, PA, a son of the late Earl and Leatha Johnston Snyder. He married the love of his life, Audrey Towner, on August 16, 1958. They spent 67 wonderful years together.
He was a graduate of Franklin High School, Class of 1954. He attended Clarion University, where he obtained his bachelor's degree in World Cultures and was a captain of the football team. He furthered his education at Edinboro University and obtained his master's degree in World Cultures.
Dave started his teaching career on Long Island, New York, before joining the military. Dave was a veteran of the United States Army who served during the Vietnam War. He was a Cryptologist for three years and was stationed in the Philippines for a year.
After he was honorably discharged in 1961, he returned home and began teaching World Cultures and coaching football at Titusville Area Schools. He taught for over 32 years and retired in June of 1993, but always remained active in the community with youth football and announcing the high school games.
"Doc" was a longtime member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Titusville and a member of the Elks lodge No. 264.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and generally being outdoors. You could also find Dave tending to his vegetable garden, woodworking, and making toys for his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Audrey Snyder, of Titusville; his sons, David Snyder and fiancé Amber Snyder of Fogelsville, PA, Douglas Snyder and Sharon Bell of Whitefish, MT, and Daniel Snyder and wife Kelly, all of New Tripoli, PA; his grandchildren, Olivia Snyder of New Tripoli, Benjamin Snyder of Park City, UT, and Christian Snyder US Army stationed in El Paso, TX; his sister, Karen Greenlee of Sugarcreek, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Snyder.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
