Date of Death: 08/28/2024
David Tyson Speed, born on March 27, 1982, in Portland, OR, passed away unexpectedly on August 28, 2024, at 42. David was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend, known for his warmth, kindness, and fun nature.
David was a lifelong resident of the Portland area and grew up surrounded by family and a core group of friends. After completing his education, David began a long and dedicated career at Wells Fargo, where he worked for 17 years. Always ambitious, David recently embarked on a new venture by purchasing Metro Junk in Aloha, OR, with plans to involve his family in this exciting chapter of his life.
David's love for sports was a defining part of who he was, especially the Cincinnati Bengals! Anyone who knew him knew he loved sporting his many basketball jerseys and Jordans. He also spent countless hours playing basketball, watching basketball and football, bowling, and golfing. He cherished attending Winterhawks games with his children and was their biggest fan, always wanting to cheer them on in their athletic pursuits and dreams.
David is survived by his loving mother, Marcia Kauffman, and stepfather, Gary Kauffman; his cherished children, Liv and Drake, (mother Makenzie Speed); his caring sisters, Julia Bryant, and her children, Madison, Maleah, and Moriah; Yolanda Pritchett and her children Rylea and Ryyan. He will also be deeply missed by his aunts and uncles; Kelly Hudson; Wayne and Nancy Porter; Barbara and Patrick Stone; cousins Amy and Matt Cochenour, and their children, Colin and Karlee; and cousin Graham Stone, and his children Jackie and Jason.
David's father, Lemil Speed, preceded him in death, who he joins in eternal rest.
Those who knew David will remember him as the friendliest, and most sociable person you could ever meet. He was the life of the party, always ensuring that those around him were well cared for and happy.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made towards funeral arrangements in the designated baskets.
Any donations for the funeral arrangements being made after Monday September 9th will need to be sent to Julia Bryant.
