David Edward Stagner, 62, peacefully passed away into the arms of his Heavenly Father, Friday, March 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, at his home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born November 22, 1963, in Cairo, Illinois, to Robert and Carolyn Hughes Stagner. He and Charlotte Clubb were married in September 1989.
David had a master’s degree in business administration and worked many years as a data analyst at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of Cape Bible Chapel in Cape Girardeau and was the lead guitarist with the praise team. David treasured the relationships he shared with his family, church family, and co-workers, but his relationship with the Lord was central in his life.
David and his family enjoyed many years of river life and all its adventures. He was a very patriotic history buff and liked to discuss politics. He was the lead vocalist of the band, “Spider Wolf” and loved listening to all genres of music.
Loving survivors include his wife, Charlotte Stagner of Cape Girardeau; children, Mark (Stephani) McClure of Klamath Falls, Oregon; Michelle (Noah) Reese of Clarksville, Tennessee; Jennifer (Darren) Null of Dexter, Missouri; 17 grandchildren: Emily (Weston) Barker, Jacob and Abby Ford, Lilly Hobbs, Adelyn, Cayden, Eli, and Austin Reese, Jase Barker, Sophia, Ella, and Ava McClure, Aliyah Coaty, Hezekiah McComber, Dalila, Jo Jo, and Jesse Null; sisters, Tina (Jeff) Foster and Laura (Jay) Anderson both of Poplar Bluff.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Louise Stagner; and a brother, Robert “Bob” Stagner.
Visitation is from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, March 16, 2026, at Cape Bible Chapel in Cape Girardeau. The Rev. Josh Stephens will conduct the funeral service at 3 p.m., Monday, March 16, at the church. Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
