David Louis Steckly, of Beaver Crossing, was born July 16, 1953, in Nebraska City, Nebraska to Gerald and Cecelia (Moyer) Steckly. David passed away suddenly Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at his home at the age of 69. On April 14, 1973, David Married Joan Mills and to this union three children were born. Cynthia, Michelle, and Dave.
David was an over the road truck driver. He worked for the postal mail service driving a truck for over 20 years. He also hauled grain, feed, and silage for additional income. David is a past member of the Sons of the American Legion of Beaver Crossing. Over the years, David enjoyed race car driving. When David drove his trucks, he always took his dog (Secret) with him. David was also an avid Junkyard scrap collector. Most importantly, David relished spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren when he wasn't driving his trucks.
He is survived by his children Michelle "Shelly" and husband Robbie Brown of Nebraska City, NE; Dave and Michelle "Chelle" Steckly of Beaver Crossing, NE. Also survived by grandchildren Shelby Krjanik, C.J. Schauer, and Ricky Hickman. One great grandchild, Keegan Schauer. Also survived by brothers Jerry and Kathy Steckly; Larry and Patricia Steckly, both of Lincoln, NE; Michael Steckly of Beaver Crossing, NE; Lonnie Steckly and significant other Angie Angel of Wahoo, NE; Sisters Donna and Douglas Upton of Beaver Crossing, NE; Dianna Ferguson of Howell, NE. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
David is preceded in death by his father Gerald, infant daughter Cynthia, Wife Joan, and Mother Cecelia Steckly.
Memorials are suggested in care of the family for a later designation.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday May 27, 2023, at the American Legion Hall in Beaver Crossing, NE, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
burial of his cremains will be buried at the Pleasant View Cemetery in rural Milford.
