David Randolph Stone, 64, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025, in Vienna, VA, despite his courageous fight against cholangiocarcinoma. He was surrounded by the love of his family at the time of his passing. Born on September 8, 1961, in Oneida, NY, Dave lived a life marked by devotion to his faith and family.

Dave attended Oneida High School, where he earned nine varsity letters in football, basketball, and track. He was a starter for three years in football, and was All-Tri Valley League in three positions: Running back, Safety, and Special Teams. He earned his degree in Business Administration from Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. During his time there, he distinguished himself not only academically but also athletically. Dave was reportedly the KING of blocking kicks, as he holds the career record for blocked kicks (field goals, punts, and PATs) at Ithaca with nine blocks, and as of the 2024 record book, his name is top of the list for "Most Blocks" (Field Goals, Punts & Pats) with three in a single game. His blocking records (career and season) are still cited in Ithaca's official football record documentation. He was an All-American honors recipient both on and off the field. He was also named to the SID Second Team All-American in 1982, and was a SID Honorable Mention All-American in 1983. As Team Captain in 1984, he was a true leader who cared deeply for his team.

Professionally, Dave was an accomplished general contractor and the proud owner of MAC Design and Build, a successful construction company in Northern Virginia he built with his best friends Mitch and business partner Derek. Through his work, he built lasting relationships with clients and colleagues alike, and provided for his family. His work ethic and commitment to quality left a lasting mark on the communities he served.

At the heart of Dave's life was his beloved family. He is survived by his devoted wife Mercedes, their six children: Cori (Hunter), Chris (Maddie), Anna, Mikey (Kylie), Greg (Morgan), and Tessa; and his three brothers: Paul (Susan), John (Gwen), and Mark (Faith). Dave's family is large and extremely close. He also leaves behind Mercedes' two sisters: Melissa (Paul) and Peggy (Dave), as well as Mercedes' brother Eric(Christine). His beloved dog Shelby is also survived by him. Dave now joins in eternal rest his parents Doc and Mary (affectionately known as Grampa and Mimi), his parents-in-law Met and Ella (Mama and Papa), and his first family dog Lucky.

Dave was a man of deep faith-a devout Christian who found spiritual nourishment at St. Mark Catholic Church in Vienna, VA. He and Mercedes regularly attended Mass together as part of their shared commitment to their spiritual beliefs. Dave found deep comfort and peace through his faith.

Family was always Dave's greatest passion and top priority. He cherished family game nights, grilling on the patio with a fire and music, traveling for football games, family vacations that created lifelong memories, and he especially enjoyed playing golf with his beautiful bride. These moments were not just pastimes-they were expressions of the love he held for those closest to him.

Those who had the pleasure of meeting Dave remember him as one of the kindest souls they ever encountered. His warmth was genuine; his respect for others unwavering. Whether among friends or strangers, Dave made everyone feel valued. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched, every kindness he extended, and every moment shared with loved ones. May Dave's memory bring comfort to all who knew him and continue to inspire acts of love and kindness in his honor.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 25th, between 11 AM to 1 PM at Everly Funeral Home (6161 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, VA). The Prayer Service will follow the visitation. A reception will follow at the Stone residence. Further details regarding timeline will be shared with family and friends in the coming days.

In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations to be made to the American Liver Foundation (http://liverfoundation.org), in memory of Dave.
