David James "DJ" Summers, age 46 of Morgantown, passed away Friday evening, February 21st at WVU Medicine - JW Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following an extended illness.
Born June 2, 1978, in Morgantown, he was a son of David and Judy Summers of Morgantown.
DJ was a graduate of Morgantown High School's Class of 1996. He also graduated from West Virginia University in 2003 obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. He worked for his family's business as an office manager.
Preceding him in death are his grandparents Howard and Hazel Summers, and Warner and Ruth Bretman; an uncle, Warner J. Bretman; and a cousin, Michael J. Bretzman.
In addition to his parents, survivors include an aunt and uncle, Judy and George Leydig of North Carolina; and a cousin, Summer Dodson and husband Craig also of North Carolina.
Friends may join the family to honor David's life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover (304-292-9494) on Thursday, February 27 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, and again on Friday, February 28th from 12 Noon until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 PM officiated by Pastor Tim W. Halloran. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
