David Allen Tanhoff was born in Montevideo on March 30, 2004. He lived with his mother and father, Laura and Bob Sayre along with his two sisters, Allison and Olivia. David was a member of the Montevideo Class of 2023 and was set to graduate in May of 2023. He was active in band and marching band, playing drums. David was very well liked by his classmates and teachers.
David was very active in church youth groups at the United Methodist Church and Hope Reformed Church. He loved the opportunity to go on mission trips to help others in need and also the joy of spending time with fellow youth group friends. David enjoyed many activities including: fishing, going to car shows, playing bingo, and swimming. He had a real passion for cars and enjoyed spending time helping his dad and grandpa work on old cars. He loved car racing as well, and was a regular at the Fiesta City Speedway. David also served as a Fiesta Ambassador Prince when he was seven years old and made numerous friends throughout the area going to parades and other events representing Montevideo. Family will forever remember David's every day questions of " What are you doing?" and "Are you tired?" He had a sense of humor and a smile that would light up any person's day.
David is survived by his parents: Bob and Laura Sayre; sisters: Allison Sayre, Oliva Sayre; grandparents: Kristy Tanhoff, Montevideo, Charlotte and James Sayre, Canby, MN; great-grandmother: Lilah Mae Gades; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins as well as many friends.
David was preceded in death by his grandpa, Larry Tanhoff; great-grandparents: Faye Tanhoff, Eunice Bue, and Arlie Gades.
