David G. Terwilliger, a man of adventure and kindness, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on July 18, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on November 3, 1939, in Port Monmouth, David was a lifelong resident of Union Beach, where he cultivated a life rich with experiences and love.
David's journey began at home in Port Monmouth, but it was in Union Beach where he planted his roots and raised a beautiful family with his beloved wife, Nancy Terwilliger, who predeceased him in 2019 after 54 years of marriage. Together, they brought four wonderful children into the world: daughters Denise Love of Freehold, Donna Terwilliger, of Union Beach; and two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Catherine Terwilliger, of North Carolina; and Dennis and Michelle Terwilliger, of Bayville. His legacy continued to grow with the joy of his 11 grandchildren, Leonard, Christopher, Cody, David, Preston, Bobby, Maggie, Brandon, Dylan, Jason, and Ava Bella, and was further blessed with four great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jr., Cameron, Leonard, Jr, and Penelope.
David's sister, Emily Mularchuk, survives him, and he is fondly remembered by his predeceased siblings, Dennis Terwilliger, Joan Doremus, and Judy Terwilliger. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
A proud veteran, David served his country in the US Army Air Force during the Korean War. His dedication to his work was evident in his long-standing career as a boiler operator and engineer with the International Union Local 68. He spent many years at Raritan Bay Medical Center, where his expertise and strong work ethic were greatly valued.
David's zest for life was infectious. He and Nancy shared countless adventures, from riding their motorcycles to hunting and fishing. They relished their time on the water, whether it was on their boat or jet ski, and explored the underwater world through scuba diving. David was a man who could fix almost anything, always tinkering around the house and taking pride in his ability to solve problems. His wisdom was generously shared with others through his insightful lectures, which many will remember fondly.
Described as adventurous, kind, and handy, David's spirit and teachings will live on through the many lives he touched. His ability to embrace life's challenges with a smile and a tool in hand was an inspiration to all who knew him. David G. Terwilliger's story is one of love, service, and the pursuit of life's many joys. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as his legacy continues to thrive in the hearts of his family and friends.
Friends and Family may pay their respects on Monday, July 21st from 5 - 8 pm and again on Tuesday from 10 - 11am at the Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, immediately followed by a service at 11. The Burial and Committal will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Middletown.
