David Testa, January 21, 1949-July 5, 2025

David Lawrence Testa of Hendersonville, North Carolina, passed away July 5, 2025, at the age of 76.

He was surrounded by his wife Lorraine, daughter Adrienne and son Daniel, as well as his brother John Testa, sister Jeanne Muller and daughter-in-law Kendra Powell. Dave had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's several years earlier, and succumbed days after transitioning into hospice at the care facility in Asheville, North Carolina, where he lived his final months.

Dave dedicated his life to the security, care and support of his family; he was a loving and committed husband, father, brother and uncle. He and Lori spent many happy, full years together and raised their children, in Warwick, New York. As active members of the community, Dave and Lori worked together on numerous projects and fundraisers over the years, from the Holly Trail to Warwick Valley Gardeners Club events to Meals on Wheels.

During the course of his life, Dave enjoyed a long and successful career in business and education. He was an executive at several cable television providers during the 1980s and 1990s including Group W Cable in New York City and Cablevision Industries in Liberty, New York, eventually co-owning his own firm. He also ran the deployment of broadband internet infrastructure in the Hudson Valley for Time Warner during the early 2000s.

Dave held a bachelor's degree from Northeastern University, a master's from Boston University, and an MBA from The Wharton School. Upon retiring from business, Dave earned a PhD from Capella University, and taught communications at Marist University in Poughkeepsie, New York, Orange County Community College, and at a Strayer University campus in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Dave had a restless and powerful intellect, and a deep appreciation for music, photography, literature and American history. Born in the Bronx January 21, 1949, he also had a lifelong love of baseball and the New York Yankees.

After fully retiring, Dave and Lori lived in Southport, North Carolina, picking up where he left off in college, playing drums in a band, this time with friends in the St. James community, raising money for local charities at July 4 celebrations and other special occasions. Here again, Dave and Lori participated in community service, including preparing meals for a hospice care facility. He also enjoyed fishing, bicycling and leading walking tours downtown for the Historic Wilmington Foundation.

Dave is survived by his wife, Lorraine, for whom he was best friend and beloved husband for 53 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Adrienne, and her partner, Julian Perrine, of Candor, New York, as well as by his son, Dan, and wife, Kendra, of Asheville, North Carolina. Additionally, he is survived by John Testa (brother), Jeanne Muller (sister), Robert Morgan (brother-in-law), Victoria Morgan (sister-in-law), Patricia Hoolehan (sister-in-law), and their families.

Dave was preceded in death by his sister, Laura Testa, parents Michael and Aileen Testa, aunt Winifred McCarthy and uncle Dick McCarthy.

A memorial service is planned for autumn in the Hudson Valley of New York.

In lieu of gifts, the Testa family requests donations to local organizations that helped immensely during Dave's illness: Mountain Aging Partners. Please direct any gifts to support "Adult Day Services - Henderson County": https://www.mountainagingpartners.org/donate or to MemoryCare of Asheville.
