David Lee Traweek, known affectionately to all as David, passed away on the 27th of February, 2025, at the age of 44. Born on the 17th of June, 1980, in the vibrant city of Austin, Texas, David lived a life characterized by his loving nature, sharp wit, and brilliant mind.
David's journey began in the place he would also find peace, Austin, where his early interests in gaming, art, and animals blossomed into lifelong passions. These interests not only offered him great personal joy but also became a way for him to connect with others, bringing laughter and light into the lives of those around him.
Professionally, David dedicated his career to serving the State of Texas, where his intelligence and diligence made him a respected figure. His commitment to his work was paralleled only by his commitment to his colleagues and the many friendships he nurtured throughout his years of service.
An avid gamer, David could often be found with a controller in hand, immersed in virtual worlds where he also forged real connections with fellow enthusiasts. His creativity shone through in his paintings, which were as vibrant and thoughtful as his personality. David's beloved pets were never far from his side, providing companionship and joy throughout his life.
Those who knew David will remember him for his quick humor, which never failed to elicit smiles and laughter. He was a source of constant warmth and affection, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand.
David's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the pursuit of happiness in its many forms. His intelligence guided him, his humor delighted us, and his love for life inspired those fortunate enough to have shared in his too-short journey. The world is a lesser place without David Lee Traweek, but the memories he created will continue to bring joy to those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of his friends and community.
