David J. Tucker

David J. Tucker, 66, of Jewett City, CT passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at Backus Hospital on Aug. 9, 2024. David was born on November 21,1957 to Elliott and Barbara Tucker in Middletown, CT. He was predeceased by both his parents and grandparents, Carl and Catherine Benson. David was a 1975 graduate of Valley Regional High School in Deep River, CT, where he played varsity football and his love for sports truly blossomed. He graduated from American International College in 1979 where he studied criminal justice and was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. After college, he went to work at Millstone Nuclear Power Plant as a Security Guard where he worked for over 35 years. He most recently worked at the Lowe's Distribution Center in Plainfield as a Security Guard. Nothing brought him more joy than being a dad and grandpa. He was the beloved father of Barbara Tucker and her boyfriend Philmor Paul of Yonkers, NY and Margaret Sandness and her husband Ethan Sandness of Eastford, CT. He cherished his granddaughter, Harley, and was so proud to be her grandfather. He was also a pup-grandfather to Roxy and Brody and loved all the time he spent with the "kids". He adored his companion, Catherine Shafer of Groton, CT and the time they spent together. David truly loved sports and autographing and was an avid New York Yankees and Green Bay Packers fan. David cherished the time he spent with his family, and he will be dearly missed. There will be no visitation, but all are invited to attend a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
