David Morris Van Daele

David Morris VanDaele, 83, of Ferndale, Michigan, passed away at Medilodge of Shoreline in Sterling Heights.

Born June 15, 1942, in Detroit, David was a lifelong Michigander. He grew up in the Detroit area and spent a major portion of his life in Ferndale, where he built his home and raised his family. Throughout the years, he carried with him the spirit and grit of the city that shaped him.

In his younger years, David was known for his bold personality and strong presence. He approached life with intensity and independence, leaving a lasting impression on those who knew him. Over the years, his life took many turns, but he continued forward in his own way, shaped by experience, resilience and time.

David had a deep love for motorcycles and the sense of freedom they brought him. Motorcycles were more than a hobby- they were part of who he was. He appreciated the open road, the roar of an engine, the independence, and the distinct persona that came with it.

Above all, he cherished his grandchildren. He was a proud grandfather who found joy in watching them grow and in sharing moments, stories, and laughter with them. His love for them was steady and enduring, and they were a bright light in his life.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy.

He is survived by his sons, Richard and his wife, Nikki, and Brian and his wife, Stephanie. He was a proud grandfather to Parker and Micah, and to Archibald, Chester, and Samuel. His family was an enduring and meaningful part of his life and remains his lasting legacy.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff at Medilodge of Shoreline for their care and compassion.

He lived life in his own way, leaving an impression that will not be forgotten.
