David Wallace Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beckman-Williamson Funeral Homes & Crematory - Viera on Oct. 21, 2024.
David James Wallace, beloved husband and father passed away on October 15, 2024 at the age of 83. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Donna Reese Wallace and his three children, Theresa Morgan, her husband Steven, Marcia Paglione, her husband Michael, and Jeffrey Wallace. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Laura, Michael, Jillian, and Jordyn, one great-granddaughter, Sage, and his nieces and nephews. Originally from Middletown NJ, David resided in Manchester Twp NJ for over 30 years before retiring in Viera, Florida.
Born on May 26, 1941, Dave led a life of purpose and curiosity; dedicated to his family and Catholic faith, and always in pursuit of knowledge.
Dave was the son of David J. Wallace Sr. and Clare Ahern, and he was a loving brother to Lynn Langan. He attended Bloomfield College where he studied education and worked weekends playing clarinet and saxophone in a local band. He spent his career teaching science at Raritan Township High School in Hazlet NJ where he stayed for 30+ years while raising his family. In his retirement Dave enjoyed traveling to see many of the world wonders he had taught about with his wife Donna.
As an educator, Dave's enthusiasm for explaining the mysteries of the earth and universe inspired countless students. His own children were regular beneficiaries of his innate ability to analyze, interpret and explain complex topics. Learning and teaching were central to Dave's life as he forever pondered the why and the how of things. His love of teaching extended beyond the classroom as he enjoyed his time working with the Boy Scouts or simply chatting with his children's friends.
Additionally, many admired Dave for his "jack of all trades" ability. Whether Dave was wiring a house, designing and building a shed, fixing a car, or meticulously painting the walls of a room, his work was always done with pride and excellence. Dave generously shared his talents with those he loved, and his example both taught and inspired those around him.
But for all his accomplishments in life and work, the essence of Dave may lie in his softer side. Known for his kindness and affectionate nature, Dave cherished every moment with his family. He enjoyed time spent with friends and enjoyed conversations with strangers. He saw the beauty in all people, always dismissing perceived faults. He appreciated uniqueness in character and in form, and lived a life of unabashed sentimentality.
Visitation will be held from 5:00PM - 7:00PM, Monday, October 21, 2024 at Beckman Williamson Funeral Home - Viera, FL. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00AM, Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church - Viera, FL. Burial will follow in Florida Memorial Gardens - Rockledge, FL.
