David Franklin Waltz died peacefully on August 18, 2025, losing his battle with Alzheimer's disease.

He was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 10, 1946, the eldest son of Mr. And Mrs. H. Franklin Waltz (Janet). He grew up in Ottawa Hills and was a graduate of Ottawa Hills High School. He then went on to Miami University and the University of Toledo, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon.

David spent his entire career at Haas-Jordan, an umbrella company based in Toledo that was founded by his grandfather. He was very active on the University of Toledo Medical College Foundation Board. Additionally, David was devoted to his work with Ducks Unlimited and Trout Unlimited. He was also a longtime member of the Ottawa Skeet Club.

An avid outdoorsman, David enjoyed his retirement in the mountains of southern Colorado and on the Au Sable River in Michigan. In each location he could pursue his greatest passions which included fly fishing, riding his beloved Peruvian Pasos and exploring the outdoors. His happiest memories were his annual motorcycle trips traveling the west and anytime he spent on the Gilliland's ranch in Montana.

David is survived by his daughter Katherine Harris (Douglas), and two granddaughters. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas Waltz. He was predeceased by his sister, Marcia Hafemeister.

David's family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Brookdale Bowling Green and Bridge Hospice for making his final days comfortable.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in David's name to Trout Unlimited.
