David Raymond Wands II, lovingly known as "Ray" by family and friends, of Seaford, Delaware, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with ALS. Ray went home to be with the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and quiet strength that will live on in all who knew him.
Ray was born at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and raised in Hurlock, Maryland. He graduated from North Dorchester High School in 1975. Shortly thereafter, he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. From 1975 to 1979, Ray served with honor and pride-an experience that shaped his character and instilled in him a deep sense of discipline and integrity.
Ray built a career as an electrician that spanned over four decades. Most recently, he served as a Project Manager at Lywood Electric, where his expertise and leadership left a lasting impression. Ray also gave back to his trade by teaching electrical apprenticeship courses at Sussex Tech Adult Education, mentoring the next generation with patience and dedication.
A man of many talents and passions, Ray found joy in the simple pleasures of life-fishing, tending to his plants, listening to music, and working on home improvement projects. Whether helping family with a renovation or sending a funny meme to bring a smile, Ray always found ways to connect, share a laugh, and show he cared. He was a proud animal lover, especially of his two beloved Rottweilers, Angel and Bella.
Above all, Ray was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Christine Griffith Wands, and their children: Amanda Rentz (Justin) of Bridgeville, DE; Philip Wands of Seaford, DE; and Caitlin Scorah (Jordan) of Seaford, DE. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Addison Wands, Waylon Rentz, and Bentley Scorah.
Ray is also survived by his father, David R. Wands Sr. of Seaford, DE; his sister, Cindy Paul (Dwane) of Golden Hill, MD; his sisters-in-law, Cathy VanSciver (Jon) and Linda Shaffer (Charley); nieces and nephews, Aaron Paul (Katie), Cody Paul (Maryjo), Shelby VanSciver, Matthew Shaffer, Jeremy Shaffer (Rebekah), and Alexis Janusiewicz (Jim); and his dear aunt, Carolyn Morgan of Salisbury, MD.
Ray was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Virginia Ball Wands, of Hurlock, MD.
His warm heart, dry humor, and unwavering love for his family and friends will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ray's memory to support Paralyzed Veterans of America. Phone: 1-800-555-9140 Mail: PVA National Processing Center, PO Box 758589, Topeka, KS 66675-8542

Sharing thoughts and prayers to comfort each of you who loved him and who he loved.
We grew up as a family member, my mother babysat Ray and Cindy. We attended the old First Baptist Church, Main Street Hurlock. Many events and activities are now treasured memories.
Understand he was strong through the ALS struggles, that the love and support of the family made wonderful memories.
Trust he now rests with our God and his faith has been rewarded with all the heavenly home offers.
