David G. Ward, Sr. passed away on June 2, 2023, in Mendham. He was 83 years old.
Born in Hartford, CT, to Carlton Ward and Phyllis Arnold, he lived in Cranford and Mendham before moving to Long Beach Island for 21 years. He recently moved back to Mendham in 2002.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Lehigh University in 1961 and later received his Master's degree in finance from Rutgers University.
David served in the Marine Corps from 1962 to 1965, attaining the rank of Captain. He began his service in Quantico, VA, and then lived at Camp Lejeune for three years, working as a Marine Corps engineer.
He worked as an engineer for Long Beach Township, NJ, for 20 years before retiring in 2013. He also worked for Exxon in Florham Park and the Hydro Group in Bridgewater.
He was a member of the Professional Engineers' Association.
David is survived by his wife Linda Hooley of 60 years, and three sons; David G. Ward of Jim Thorpe, PA (Janet S. Ward of Easton, PA), Robert Ward (Deborah Hanson) of Bernardsville, NJ, and Glenn Ward (Christy Vill) of Mendham, NJ. He is also survived by brother Gregory F. Ward of CT, 7 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
The family held a private gathering and graveside service at Mendham Hilltop Cemetery. For those desiring, donations to Project Healing Waters or Trout Unlimited in David's memory, would be appreciated.
