David Grant Washburn

David Grant Washburn, born on April 23, 1955 in Corinth, New York, to the late Alfred A. Washburn and Anna Brown Washburn, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, North Carolina.

David was a dedicated husband to his beloved wife, Nancy Little Washburn, with whom he shared an extraordinary bond for 44 years. Their love story began within just 24 hours of their first meeting, a testament to the deep connection they forged. David was an expert carpenter and woodworker, known for his remarkable skills in crafting beautiful creations. He took great pride in completely remodeling their home and enjoyed making things that would bring joy to his family and friends. His generosity was evident in his willingness to help others, as he always lent a hand to those in need.

Beyond his craftsmanship, David was a man of many passions. He was an avid outdoorsman who relished fishing—especially fly fishing—and hunting. Camping provided him with solace and a sense of peace, allowing him to immerse himself in nature, where he felt most at home. His love for animals was profound, as they were an integral part of his life.

David served his country honorably in the United States Army, where he distinguished himself as an expert marksman and received numerous medals for his marksmanship. His commitment and discipline in the military mirrored the dedication he showed throughout his life.

David is survived by his wife, Nancy, and his brothers, Fred Washburn and his wife Penny, and Keith Washburn, who will carry on his memory with love and affection.

A visitation in celebration of David's life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services in Mt. Holly, North Carolina, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. His remarkable spirit and the legacy he leaves behind will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him. David Grant Washburn will be deeply missed but always remembered for his kind heart, infectious humor, and unwavering love for his family and friends.
