David Thomas Wayner

David Thomas Wayner, age 83 of Eastlake, passed away December 11th, 2024 at home. He was born January 4th, 1941 in Painesville, OH to the late John "Mose" and Elizabeth Wayner.
David was a 1959 graduate of Fairport Harding High School. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree at Lake Erie College. Dave worked as a chemist for many years before becoming an Eastlake Fireman, retiring in 2003 after 25 years of dedicated service.
David was a proud Eagle Scout and was a Leader for the Boy Scouts of America for over 15 years. He was a member of the Catholic Service Lake County Board, Fairport Harbor Historical Society, Eastlake Area Kiwanis/Eastlake Food Pantry, Fairport and Eastlake Senior Centers and the Chagrin River Salmon Association.
David enjoyed boating, model trains and spending time with his family. He loved to explore new places and learn about various local customs, evidenced by his supermarket loyalty card collection. His family fondly remember all the trips to various grocery stores throughout the country and overseas.
David was the loving husband of 60 years to Louise A. Wayner (nee Pohto); beloved father of Susan Wayner and Thomas (Jennifer) Wayner; dearest grandfather of Saxon Wayner, Savannah (Brad) Costelloe (nee Wayner), Devin Galloway and the late Ashley Phinessee; great grandfather of Emelia Louise Costelloe and Rylee Ward. David was blessed to have the love and support of family and friends throughout his life.
The Wayner family will receive family and friends from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM Wednesday, December 18th, 2024 at Jeff Monreal Funeral Home, 1000 Mentor Ave., Painesville. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery.
