David Wayne Weddle

David Wayne Weddle, 83, of Ocala Florida, passed away on December 22, 2025. He had recently left the mountains of West Virginia to become a full time Floridian. Born in Christiansburg Virginia on April 21, 1942, he graduated from Blacksburg High School in 1960. He served in the Army after graduating. Because he was active in high school sports and lived so close to Virginia Tech, he soon became an avid Hokie fan. He moved to Charlottesville VA, where he served much of his working life as a letter carrier, also serving as President of the local union, and as union liaison for 10 years. His love of sports lead him to pursue officiating high school football and baseball. He was very active in his church, serving on the cemetery committee, partaking in mission trips to Brazil and the Philippines, as well as local missions. He talked fondly of building houses for the Jimmy Carter project in Valdosta, and building churches in other countries. He was very active in the Operation Christmas Child outreach, serving for many years at the collection center locally, and the distribution center in Charlotte NC. After retiring he worked at the golf course at Farmington in Charlottesville and the Greenbrier Country Club in White Sulphur Springs.

David is survived by his wife, Leslie of Ocala FL, his son Michael of Hermosa Beach CA, two beautiful grandchildren, Evie & amp; Beckham, also of Hermosa Beach, and his aunt Lucy of Pfafftown NC, who was like a sister to him.

In accordance with David's wishes, he will be cremated in Ocala. A memorial service is

planned for a future date.
