David Christopher "Dave" Weickert Sr.

David Christopher "Dave" Weickert, Sr., age 63 years, of West Bend passed away unexpectedly on August 3, 2024 at his home.
Dave was born on November 4, 1960 in Milwaukee to James E. and Dorothy M. Weickert (Christensen). He was united in marriage to Therese M. Schroeder on July 21, 1984 at St. Monica's in Whitefish Bay.
Dave graduated from Nicolet High School in 1978. He attended UW-Milwaukee and studied Geology. Dave started working for Pahlisch Greenhouse in Glendale at the age of 13. He then spent over 30 years at the Flower Source in Germantown. Later, he worked for Bayside Garden Center in Bayside.
His main love in life was Therese, his second love was rocks.
He was well known in the Greenhouse Industry and had many acquaintances. Dave was an Eagle Scout and a multi-year State Fair Champion Cactus and Succulent grower. He was known to go antiquing, and collected McCoy pottery, rocks, fossils, coins, stamps, marbles, and Indian artifacts.
Dave was an avid reader of Science Fiction. He was a mushroom hunter, and enjoyed camping, gardening, and caving. He had been involved with the Wisconsin Speleological Society.
Those Dave "Diz" leaves behind to cherish his memory include three children, Amy Sommerfeld, David Weickert, and Brandon (Shannon) Weickert; three grandchildren, Austin, Mya, and Amora; and two brothers, Steven Weickert and Michael (Tammy) Weickert. He is further survived by brothers-in-law, Dan, Bill, and Tom; as well as nieces, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his wife, Therese; and parents-in-law, John and Mary Schroeder (Holzbauer).
VISITATION: Dave's family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. at Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service – 1315 W Washington St. – West Bend, WI 53095.
SERVICE: A Memorial Service in remembrance of Dave will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
