David William West, Jr., age 79, of Lebanon, Missouri, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on October 5, 2025. He was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to father Bill West and mother Polly West Taylor. A proud Vietnam veteran, David later answered the call to ministry, serving as a Southern Baptist pastor in churches across northeast Louisiana and Laclede County, Missouri. His faith was steady and genuine, and he cared deeply about helping others and leading them to his Savior, Jesus Christ. David loved his family dearly and would do anything for them. He enjoyed fishing, quiet days at home, and watching old westerns on his own-his way of relaxing after a life spent caring for others. At the time of his passing, he was a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Lebanon. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn West; three children, Sonja Frost and husband Sam of Oak Grove, Louisiana; Michael West and wife Ashley of Bruner, Missouri; and Kara Gean and husband Derek of Lebanon, Missouri; Brandy LeBurn Windsor of Lebanon, Missouri, who he and Carolyn loved as their own; grandchildren, Scott Frost and wife Kyla of Oak Grove, Louisiana; Chris Frost, Alec Frost, Mark Frost, and Timothy Frost, all of Phillipsburg, Missouri; Makayla West and Koltyn West of Bruner, Missouri; Jonathyn, Kaylee, Brayden, and Sawyer Gean of Lebanon, Missouri; and Brittany Williams of Lebanon, Missouri; great-grandchildren Kaleb and Rebakkah Frost of Oak Grove, Louisiana; siblings, Carolyn West and Billy West, both of Arizona; sister-in-law Elsie West of Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill West and Polly West Taylor; his step-parents, Leon Taylor and Bertha West; and his brother, Bobby West. The family also wishes to recognize his dedicated caregiver and now dear family member, Kim Lord, whom David and Carolyn deeply adored. A private committal service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
