Dr. West, age 90 passed away peacefully at his home on February 3rd, 2026. He was born in Orlando and was in the first graduating class of Boone High school in 1953. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and was promoted meritoriously to Sergeant. Upon Honorable Discharge from the Marines, he continued his education by graduating from Florida State University, the Washington University School of Medicine, and the American International University. He served his internship at the four hospitals in the Panama Canal Zone and his residency at the Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. He was Board Certified and a Life Fellow of the American College of Hospital Administrators and the American College of Osteopathic Administrators.
During his 50-year Medical Management career, he served as Medical Center Assistant Director in Miami, CEO in Michigan, Massachusetts, Malaysia, Panama, and Saudi Arabia. He served as CEO of Saudi Medicare, King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, Senior Health Advisor to the King and the Royal Commission, Jackson Memorial Continuing Care Division, Leonard Morse Hospital, and Albion Community Hospital and Sheldon Manor. He also served as CEO of the Hospital Corporation of America Health Plans and He served as CEO of Advanced Revenue Systems, an international Health Care Consulting company.
He served as CEO of two financial turnarounds at Leonard Morse Hospital in Michigan and the Total Healthcare HMO in Baltimore. Dr. West served his country on two Congressional Blue-Ribbon Panels and White House appointments and testified to Congressional Committees, helping to improve health care in the Department of Defense and the Veterans Administration. He published several books and many professional articles.
His wife, Patricia Parrish West graduated from Edgewater High School and followed him all over the world ensuring a tight knit family during his career. Dr. West claimed she was the love of his life and was responsible for their happy 60-year marriage. When possible, his children also traveled with him.
His wife Patti passed away in 2017, but he is survived by three children: Wendy West Minotti, Jonathan David West, and Dustin Michael West, his 10 grandchildren and his 8 great grandchildren. Dustin served in the Marine Corps during the Gulf War and has been serving as caregiver to Dr. West and his wife. His children said they will miss his bad groaner jokes and his loving care of them.
Dr. West said he wanted to be remembered as a good Christian man, a good husband and father, and a good Marine. He had a long and successful national and international career and often said he owed it to a merciful God and to the support of his wife and children.
