David William Williams, 89, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Home Place of Burlington, NC after suffering with dementia and Parkinson's disease for several years. He was a devoted husband for 61 years to Naomi who passed away in 2021. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend. David was born on July 15, 1936, in West Pittston, PA to the late Daniel R. Williams, Sr. and Margaret Johnson Williams. He touched the lives of many with his kindness, wisdom, dedication to education, and unwavering faith.
David embraced a life devoted to teaching and learning, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education from Bob Jones University in 1958, followed by a Master's Degree from Michigan State University in 1961, and an Educational Specialist degree from the same institution in 1980. He became a Licensed Psycho-Educational Specialist in South Carolina in 1998. His career spanned many roles, including Art Teacher, School Psychologist, and ultimately Assistant Superintendent in Davison School District in Davison, MI. After retiring, he went on to develop the Career Placement Office at Bob Jones University, helping countless students navigate their futures.
In addition to his professional achievements, Dave was a man of many passions. He actively participated in Davison's Optimist Club, shared his love of history, and enjoyed gardening. He had a nurturing spirit, teaching Sunday School classes and lending his voice to the church choir. David cherished the moments spent traveling with his wife, Naomi, and his family, including mission trips and camping adventures.
David is survived by his daughters, Amy (Daniel) Freeman and Elizabeth Fleming; his sister, Margaret Francis; and his cherished grandchildren: David (Andrea) Freeman, Amijoy (Cody) Bryner, Marianne (Jon) Carnes, Jonathan Freeman, Caleb (Colby) Fleming, Andrew Fleming, Sarah Fleming, and William Fleming, along with great-grandsons William, Jamie, and Wesley Freeman, Benaiah and Obadiah Fleming, and Baby Boy Carnes, expected to arrive in February 2026.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Williams; his son, David Earl Williams; and his brother, Daniel R. Williams, Jr.
