Dimitroula "Goldie" Platis

Dimitroula "Goldie" Platis, 87, passed away in Greenville, SC on Friday January 30, 2026.

She was born in Lexington, KY, and raised by her loving parents, John Spiro and Fotini (nee Skenteris) Stokas.

She attended Henry Clay High School, Fugazzi Business College, and the University of Kentucky. She was also an Honorary Kentucky Colonel.

She loved all of her friends, some friendships lasting ore than 75 years; all types of music (except rap), crossword puzzles, reading, boardgames, and playing cards.

She moved to Greenville in 1969 and married in 1972.

She is survived by her loving husband, Spiro; daughter Fotini Maria (Panaglotis "Pete") Petropoulos; her twin sister, Spirithoula "Billie" (Paul) Banias of Greenville; niece, Helen (Demetrios) Kansios of Karpenisi, Greece; and nephew, John Paul Banias of Greenville.

A Visitation will be held Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 406 North Academy street, with a Trisagion service at 10:30 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. Athas John Pistolis. The burial will take place in Graceland Cemetery West, 4814 White Horse Road, Greenville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral 406 North Academy Street, Greenville, SC 29601 or to the charity of one's choice.

May she rest in peace in the arms of the Lord and her memory be eternal.
