Shirley Ann Platis, 87, of Green, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on August 30, 2025.
Born in Akron, Ohio, Ann was the daughter of the late Russell and Helen Schrock. She graduated from Springfield High School and retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber after many years of dedicated service.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, George Platis; son, Douglas Proudfoot; daughter, Vicki Oravec; grandson, Matthew Summers, and her much-loved German Shepherds—Sam, Alita, and Honey—who were her loyal companions. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Greg) Summers; grandson, Michael Summers (Angie); granddaughter in-law, Desirea Summers; many great-grandchildren; and sister Joan Ferrell.
A member of Temple Baptist Church of Green, her faith remained a guiding light throughout her life. She loved soaking up the sunshine—whether relaxing on the beach, cruising the Caribbean, or working in her yard. Ann and George especially loved decorating each Christmas, creating a festive home that reflected their joy of the season. Her many holiday and birthday get togethers brought the family together and created lasting memories that we will all cherish. She will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
