Dr. Thomas Edwin Lide, Jr., 94, husband of Annelle Harvell Lide, died Wednesday, January 28, 2026. Born in Cheraw, S.C., he was the son of the late Thomas and Rosa Quick.

Dr. Lide attended Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C. on a baseball scholarship. After graduating from P.C., he attended Emory University School of Dentistry where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1956. He then served in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps from 1956 until 1959 at Parris Island Marine Base, Beaufort, S.C. He began his private dental practice in Aiken, S.C., relocating the practice to Greenville, S.C. in 1966. He practiced dentistry from 1966 until his retirement in 2002. Dr. Lide continued to see patients on a part-time basis at Pelham Links Dental Group and Pro-Grin Dental for an additional fifteen years. He was a member of the Coastal District Dental Society, serving as Secretary-Treasurer, Vice-President and President of that organization. He also served as the Secretary-Treasurer, Vice-President and President of the Greenville County Dental Association. He was a member of the S.C. Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Southern Academy of Oral Surgery, and the Children's Dental Society of S.C.

Dr. Lide became a member of First Presbyterian Church, Greenville, S.C., in 1966 where he served with dedication and humility in many roles, including that of Ruling Elder Emeritus. He was a member and teacher of the Agape Sunday School Class and served as chairman of various committees including Missions and Activities.

Tom was an avid golfer and member of the Great Eight golf and breakfast buddies group for many years. He enjoyed playing with the Senior group at The Preserve at Verdae Golf Club.

He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Anne, of 71 years. Affectionately known as "Diddley" to his grandchildren and great- grandchildren, he leaves an enduring example of faithfulness to God, integrity, patience, joy, and unconditional love.

Dr. Lide is survived by his wife Anne; his children; son, Thomas Edwin Lide, III (Eve), daughters, Pamela Lide McShea, and Dana Lide Smith; and his sister, Elizabeth Barry. In addition, he is survived by ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. His legacy is a life well-lived and filled with faith and love.

He was predeceased by his son, Robert Steven Lide (Barbara); sister Betty Walters; and brother, Ray Kenneth Lide.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 200 W. Washington St., Greenville, S.C., 29601.
