Frances Coker Lide went home to be with the Lord on June 18, 2024, at the age of 88 at Cheraw Healthcare. Frances was born on September 10, 1935, in Cheraw, SC and was a daughter of the late Eddie Coker and Neil Pate Coker. She was affectionally known as “Nanny” to her family and their friends. She retired from B.C. Moore’s Warehouse. Frances was a longtime member of Westside Baptist Church where she had friends and enjoyed working in the nursey for years. As her health declined, she appreciated and found comfort and love from all the cards, prayers, and visits from church members and others while she was at her home and in the nursing home. Frances loved people and her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Nanny always tried to spread love and had a caring and nurturing spirit. She was a sweet and loving lady and had a heart of gold. She tried to be there, offer advice and encouragement, and help in every way she could. Frances enjoyed talking and socializing, shopping, and just spending time with the people she loved.
Along with her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, “FW”,“Red” Lide, and her son, Robert “Bob” Lide, brother-in-law, Dennis Gulledge, and sister-in-law Patsy Coker.
Frances is survived by her son, Frankie (Joyce) Lide of Cheraw, grandchildren, Cortnei (Patrick) McLeod, Christin Lide, Daniel Lide, Jeremy (Miranda) Rhyne, Ashley Lide, and Matthew Lide; great grandchildren, Payton McLeod, Chloe McLeod, Collin McLeod, Andy Lide, Easton Lide, Elijah Lide, and Damien Crowley; great-great-grandchildren, Harper McLeod, David Rhyne, Christopher McLeod, Cash Lowell, and Lyra Rhyne; sisters, Shirley (Harold) Dean and Thelma Gulledge, brother, Glenn Coker, and, daughter of the heart, Lisa Woodley; also nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Westside Baptist Church on Friday, June 21, 2024, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM.
Burial will follow at Old Saint David’s Cemetery in Cheraw.
