Myra Ann Acker-Newkirk ,78, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, leadership, and love.

Born in Greenville, South Carolina, she was the cherished daughter of the late James and Margaret Acker. Myra was a devoted and faithful member of Harvest Missionary Bible Church International, where she served with dedication and Integrity as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Her commitment to her church and community reflected her deep faith, strong character, and servant's heart.

Above all Myra was a loving mother, sister, and family matriarch whose strength, wisdom, and compassion touched everyone who knew her. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Shunis Acker and Myra Jones; sisters, Gloria Acker, Sandra Acker, Jaime Acker, and Iris Acker; two brothers, Eugene Robinson and Michael Acker as well as a host of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and church family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Wallace Acker, and her beloved sons, Jimmy Barton and Hector Tate, whom she loved dearly.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 6, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes Downtown, 639 N. Main Street, Greenville, South Carolina. A celebration of life homegoing service honoring Myra's remarkable life will be held Saturday February 7, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes Downtown.

Burial and repass will follow at Lowndes Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 1516 Lowndes Hill Road, Greenville, South Carolina 29607.

Though she is no longer with us in body, Myra Ann Acker-Newkirk's love, faith, and legacy will continue to live in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
