It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved David Wilson, who departed from this world September 28, 2023, at the age of 71. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever be etched in our hearts.

David was born on September 27, 1952, in Indianapolis, Indiana and grew up in a close-knit family that instilled in him strong values of compassion, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved.

Throughout his life, David touched the lives of countless people with his warm smile, gentle spirit, and caring nature. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 49 years Kathy (Denise) Wilson, children Andrea Wilson of Brownsburg and Stephanie English (Geoff) of Indianapolis, grandchildren Addison and Troy English and Colin and Sophie Claspell, and bonus children Derek and Amy Eaton and bonus grandchildren Rhylee and Brody Eaton, sister Tammy Belcher of Avon, nieces and nephews, extended family, and a wide circle of friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd Clay Wilson and Zilpha Ilene Wilson. We take solace in knowing that he is now reunited with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. David came to Christ late in life, even though most people thought he had been a Christian all along. He was at peace knowing that he would see those that went before him in heaven, and he hopes to see all of us there as well!

David had an enduring passion for education and after careers spanning banking, mortgage lending, and factory work at the Ford Motor Company; he spent over a decade as a secondary school teacher, imparting knowledge, wisdom, and dry humor to hundreds of young minds. His dedication to his students was unmatched, and his influence on their lives will continue to be felt for years to come.

In his youth, David loved all sports and played in numerous softball and basketball leagues. He was known to battle anyone on a tennis court or ping pong table and would keep an opponent moving with his vicious spins and trick shots. He was quick witted with a dry sense of humor that caught most off-guard, as he was a very quiet man. He especially loved playing card and board games with the grandchildren when not attending their ball games and other activities. Family was always most important to him.

David's departure leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, compassion, and dedication to family and community will continue to inspire us all.

Viewing will be from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. prior to the service. A memorial service to celebrate David's life will begin at 1:00 p.m. October 3, 2023, at Flanner Buchannan – Speedway, at 2950 N. High School Road. Graveside service to be held immediately following at West Ridge Park Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Mended Little Hearts Indiana, which will provide funding to empower families in Indiana affected by congenital heart disease, like David’s grandson Colin.

David's family would like to express their gratitude to all those who have offered their support, love, and condolences during this difficult time. Your kindness has been a source of comfort and strength.

May David's soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to shine brightly in our hearts. He will be forever missed and never forgotten.
