David Gordon Wing, age 75, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, June 15, 2024 at Toni & Trish House. The son of the late Gordon and Gertrude (Reymore) Wing, he was born on August 11, 1948 in Bay City. During his high school years, he worked for Fred Nietzke TV Service installing TV antennas. David graduated from T.L. Handy High School in 1967 and went on to serve his country with the U.S. Air Force on active duty until 1972 followed by several years as an Air Force Reservist. While in the Air Force, he studied radar maintenance and took a great interest in aeronautics. Following his service, David worked for different electronics companies in Nevada and Colorado before settling in California. For 15 years he was the senior test engineer of the launch crew for the Titan Missile with Martin Marietta, now Lockheed Martin, at Vandenberg AFB in California before retirement. He moved to Reno, Nevada, doing work for Bee Line Electrical, before moving back to California, living for some time in Apple Valley. In 2022 David moved back home to Bay City where has reconnected with family and friends, who affectionately knew him as "Reno." He was an active participant at the Bay County Senior Activity Center, the Bay County Historical Museum, attended St. Jude Thaddeus Parish and was a member of Elks Lodge #88. He enjoyed following the Detroit Tigers, watching Jeopardy and playing cards and was an avid game player, especially euchre, cribbage and dominos. David spent his childhood years sailing on Lake Huron with his father and family, and during his time out west took up the game of pickleball. He also was an avid traveler, spending many vacations over his lifetime in exotic locations all over the world.
David is survived by his beloved companion, Niki Ann Nordstrom, with whom he reconnected a few years ago. They had a great love for one another and truly enjoyed their time together. He is also survived by his son, Christopher Wing and husband Derek Walker of Portugal; three sisters and two brothers, Carol (Robert) Goff, Judy Suh, Jerry Wing, Robert Wing and Pegi (George) Lamoureux; special friends, Craig and Lydia Smith, and Herb F. Nordstrom, Jr.; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, David was also preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Wing; and a sister-in-law, Joan Wing.
