DAVID S. “BILLY” WISE, JR., 92, husband of the late Barbara Chapman Wise, passed away Saturday evening, June 8, 2024 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
A native of West Columbia, SC David was a son of the late David S., Sr. and Cassie Lucas Wise. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. David moved his family to Aiken in1962 and worked as a carpenter, most recently at the Savannah River Site.
Survivors include his son, Joel H. Wise (Faith); daughter-in-law, Angela Wise; nine grandchildren, Tamara Key (BJ Bolt), Kristie Wise, Erin Byers, David Wise IV (Courtney), Barbara Stewart (David), Fawn Wise, Sarah Wise, Joel H. Wise, Jr. (Jenifer), Hope D. Wise (Benji Robinson); twenty-three great-grandchildren: six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his beloved wife, Barbara and his parents, David was preceded in death by his son, David S. Wise III; siblings, Inez Lucas, Horace Wise, Lila Dangerfield, Lucille Driggers, Geneva Williams, Dean Bagnel, Pauline Jones.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, June 11th from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be Wednesday afternoon, June 12th at 2 o’clock at the funeral home with The Rev. Bill Archer officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens in Langley with military honors. Pallbearers will be Joel Wise, Jr, Colton Key, Miles Boyles, BJ Bolt, Benji Robinson, David Dangerfield.
