Buel Wise, Jr. Obituary

Buel Rayburn Wise, Jr., known as Randy by all, passed away on September 25, 2025, at the age of 72. Mr. Wise was born in Blount County, Alabama, on July 14, 1953, to Buel Rayburn Wise, Sr., and Corrine Butts Mylam.

Mr. Wise is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Mike Wisner, Donnie Wisner; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Hafer.

Those surviving Mr. Wise include his wife of fifty-one years, Joyce Wise; son, Randall Shane Wise; daughter, Candie Tucker (Jason); sisters, Dianne Hafer, Nikki Snodgrass (Selton Cole), Mia Wise; grandchildren, Taylor Tucker, Dakota Edwards (Cassidy), Katilyn Garcia (Luis), Jacey Ray (Travis); great-grandchildren, Zoe, Lewis, Otis, Sophia, Zeke, Grady, and Sutton; family friends, Michelle Shedd (Phillip Wisner); and his little dog, Ace.

Randy was a member of Center Point Baptist Church where he received salvation through Christ Jesus. He was always happy to point out Shorty Harbin’s Pond, the place where he was baptized, anytime he passed by. Mr. Wise was a man of dedication and sacrifice, and those qualities were displayed as he served in the United States Army with honor.

Randy drove a truck for many years and was also a heavy equipment operator. He was a very hard worker – always striving to provide for his family. In the few minutes of free time that he did have, Mr. Wise enjoyed riding four wheelers and fishing. Randy was also a collector, and you could spend hours looking at the same wall of his treasure only to find items you had not noticed before.

Mr. Wise never met a stranger. His love for people was evident in the way he would help anyone he found to need a helping hand. He also loved children, and he built a wagon to pull behind his Gator where he would load up the neighborhood kids and take them for a ride – always with a sucker for them to enjoy as they rode through the neighborhood.

As much as Randy loved people, his love for his family was even greater. Mr. Wise was a loving husband and father as well as an adoring grandfather. His family brought immense joy to his life. Randy leaves a legacy of hard work, honor, and selfless love that will be remembered and continued in the lives of those he loved for many years to come.

Friends are invited to join the Wise family on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. for a time of visitation. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Tim Barbee officiating. Both visitation and funeral services will be held in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Wise will be laid to rest following services in Center Point Cemetery where he will receive honors in gratitude for his service to our nation. Taylor Tucker, Dakota Edwards, Luis Garcia, Michael Blackwelder, Corey Glasscock, and Michael Patterson will serve as pallbearers, with Lewis Edwards serving as honorary pallbearer.

The Wise family would like to extend their gratitude to Britty Lynn, Mr. Wise’s hospice nurse, for her exceptional care and compassion. They would also like to thank Michelle Shedd and Phillip Wisner for their friendship as well as their help in caring for Mr. Wise over the past several months.

Holly Pond Funeral Home is honored to serve the Wise family.
