David Greene Wiseman, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home on July 22, 2022. He was born on December 11, 1924, in a log house in the Wiseman Hollow on the Elk river in the Harmony community of Franklin County, Tennessee. He was known throughout his life by his family and friends as D.G. (DeeGee). His parents were David G. Wiseman, Sr. and Johnie Edwards Wiseman. He graduated from the Harmony Public School in 1939, and from Central High School in Winchester in 1943. He enlisted in the Army Air Force in February 1944 and served in the 507th Bomb Squadron of the 333rd Bomb Group where he was trained as a bombardment radar mechanic for B-29 Superfortresses. He was honorably discharged in March 1946. Upon returning to Franklin County, he enrolled at the University of the South in Sewanee. He graduated in 1950 with a B.A. in English Literature and was a member of the Order of the Gown.
On September 16, 1950, he married Lorena Glasner, and they made their home in Harmony. In 1953, he began work at the Arnold Engineering and Development Center where he calibrated and tested instrumentation used in the testing of airplane and rocket models. He retired in February 1988, as manager of the Electrical and Electronics Section of the Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory. Following his retirement, he farmed and greatly enjoyed his hay operation, garden, blueberries, and peaches. He loved the land and nature and was a lifelong fisherman and hunter. He especially loved quail hunting and bird dogs. He had a great love of books and read extensively. He was a charter member of the Franklin County Historical Society and helped to establish The Old Jail Museum in Winchester.
He was a member of the Harmony Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 83 years where he served faithfully as a teacher, a deacon, and for forty- one years as an elder.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lorena, to whom he was married for 71 years; his parents; his sister and brother-in-law, Imogene and Lloyd Knowles; his brother-in-law, Robert Lyle Custer; and his many Glasner family in-laws.
He is survived by his sister Margaret Custer; and his four children: David Greene Wiseman III (Christianna); Rena Clare Wiseman; Robert Alexander (Bob) Wiseman (Ann); and Jean Ann Andrews (Mark). He had seven grandchildren: Anna Hoffman (Matt); Alex Wiseman (Joline), Jacob Wiseman (Megan); Andrew Wiseman (Kayla); Alexandria Andrews Deckert (Jesse); Michael Andrews; and Kate Andrews. He also had eight great-grandchildren: Lillian and Reagan Hoffman; Ivy Williams; Gabrial and Steven Wiseman; Clayton Deckert; Finnley Wiseman; and Cora Wiseman. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Cora Snell. He was a beloved Uncle DeeGee to his Custer nieces, Margaret Lyle, Melissa, and Melba; and to his wife's many Glasner-related nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2022 from 1pm until 3pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 3pm in the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Harmony Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
