Obituary

David Lee Witt, a firm believer in Christ, age 65, a native of Florida, a resident of Athens, and formerly of Coker Creek, TN went home to be with Jesus, Friday, December 21, 2025.

He is preceded in death by his companion, Lora Orr; father, Myles Witt; grandparents, Charlie and Ray Sutton, and Ed and Myrtle Witt; childhood best friend, Gabriel “Gabe” West.

David enjoyed working outside on heavy equipment and tractors. He also was a true artist at heart, and had a passion for creating beautiful work. David enjoyed spending his free time building model cars. He was a gentle soul who cherished the quiet companionship of his cat, Smokey. David will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his mother, Dixie Sutton Witt Ducker; children, Angela Witt, LeAnne Witt-Fry, Jacqueline Witt, grandchildren, Joshua Fry, Destiny Dyer, Elijah Fergerson, Charles Fry “caregiver” and girlfriend, Tami Scott, William Moses, Nevaeh Moses; great grand-children, Naelyn Dyer, Carmen Davis, Aaliyah Moses, Araya Moses, Izaiah and Kahlani Fergerson; brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Syble Witt; sister and brother-in-law, Julie and Philip Hunt.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 29, 2025 at Myers Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday in the chapel with brother, Rev. Kenny Witt officiating. Interment will follow the service at Epperson Cemetery.
