David "Dave" Wayne Woodrome, 77, a resident of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories. Born in East St. Louis, Illinois, Dave spent his formative years in Miami, Florida, and attended Southwest Miami High School. In June 1966, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the Army, where he was stationed in Germany. That same year, in July 1966, he married the love of his life, Juanita "Kay" Woodrome. Together, they returned to the United States in 1968 to build a life filled with devotion and family. Their love for one another is unparalleled as you rarely saw one without the other.
Dave enjoyed a long and distinguished career with BellSouth, dedicating over 30 years of service where he retired from in 2005. He began as a lineman and later transitioned into procurement where he was awarded a US patent. His work ethic and commitment were hallmarks of his professional life.
Dave and Kay then moved to St Augustine, FL shortly after retirement to help with Kay's parents and started new roots here since 2005.
In his leisure time, David found joy in good times with friends, fishing and working with his hands. An avid craftsman, he took pride in building and creating, leaving behind tangible reminders of his skill and passion.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer George "Mickey" Woodrome and Marie Woodrome. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Juanita "Kay" Woodrome; his son David Woodrome and daughter-in-law Karen; and his grandchildren Jason Hitchcock (married to Shelby) and Tyler Woodrome (married to Morgan). Beth Maldonado (married to Tim), Katie Clark, and Ron Warbington (married to Christina). He also leaves behind his siblings: brothers Dick (married to Arlene) and Mike (married to Georgette), sister Lori (married to Paul), seven nieces and nephews as well as several great- grandchildren who will fondly remember him.
David's life was one of service, love for his family and friends who had a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held at Craig Funeral Home, 1475 Old Dixie Highway St. Augustine, FL 32084 on Saturday, December 14th from 1-3pm with a funeral service to follow.
