David "Woody" Woodward

SPENCER: David B. Woodward, 59, of Spencer, passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 4th, in his home. He leaves his daughter, Dana A. Woodward of Groton, MA; his sister, Donna M. Anderson of Oxford; and his beloved nieces, Nicole Glasberg and her husband David of Oxford, along with their children, Lilly and Ethan, and Heather Belmonte and her husband Jason of Barnstable.

Dave was born in Worcester, the son of Bruce and Dorothy (Johnson) Woodward, and graduated from David Prouty High School, Class of 1984. He also attended the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. He was a longtime self-employed painting contractor and the proud owner of Dave Woodward Painting Co. Dave was also a member of the Spencer Fish & Game Club. He enjoyed playing golf and cards with his friends and was known for his humor, unforgettable stories, and his famous french-fries that never failed to make people smile. Dave dedicated several years to coaching youth basketball and women's basketball at David Prouty High School, guiding young athletes with patience, encouragement, and a deep love for the game. He was also an enthusiastic supporter of his daughter's athletics-saving every newspaper box score from her basketball and volleyball seasons and happily walking the golf course beside her.

Woody was truly the life of the party-a bright, generous presence whose kindness and spirit left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. His passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the many others whose lives he touched. We ask that he be remembered not for the way his life ended, but for the way he lived, and for the profound impact he had on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. At the family's request, there are no calling hours. A Celebration of His Life will be held at a later date and announced accordingly.
