David Jerome Wortham was born January 11, 1950 in Macon, Georgia. He went to be with our Lord from his home in Hawkinsville, Georgia at 74 years young on July 7th. David lived with his wife Joanna approaching 25 years in Hawkinsville. He joined his parents Ellie Louise Hall and William Clinton Wortham of Jacksonville Beach, Florida in Heaven as well as his brothers, Clinton Eugene, Joseph Cecil, and his sister Martha Louise Burris.
David is survived by his wife Joanna, their daughter Ellie Kay Wortham, his son David Jerome Wortham Jr and his beloved step children John Thomas JT (Betsy), Autumn (James) and Craig (Rio). He was also blessed with 6 grandchildren; Colt, Conner, Callia, Wade, Gunnar and Korbin. His siblings William, Linda and Franklin, and many nieces and nephews. He was very loved and will be missed greatly.
Retired from CSX railroad after 25 years as a mechanic he had many jobs in his lifetime. David was a boxer, co-owned a fast-food business, drag racing, repairing cars and motorcycles, and a professional piddler in retirement. He loved NASCAR, cycle racing and his dogs and cats. The work where he shined brightest with as a caring husband, a grateful father and stepfather and doting grandpa.
He grew up in Bonaire, lived in Warner Robins, Georgia. He lived and worked in West Virginia, Alaska and Florida before retiring in Hawkinsville.
He cherished old friends and was grateful for new friends. He never met a stranger, and enjoyed his neighbors and the Hawkinsville community.
The family will be having a private celebration of life in the future. If you would like to honor David please consider a donation to The Cancer Society of Georgia Hospice.
