David Andrew Zagar, 59, of Woodruff, Wisconsin, passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, February 28, 2026, due to complications following a medical procedure.
David was born on March 15, 1966, in Joliet, Illinois, to Joseph and Nancy Zagar. He graduated from Joliet East (Central) High School in 1984. During his school years he enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, and football. His love for baseball continued as he went on to play at Joliet Junior College and Illinois State University.
In his late twenties, David moved to Wisconsin and eventually settled in the Northwoods, where he most recently enjoyed life in Woodruff. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool, gambling, watching his favorite sports teams and movies, and sharing a good meal with friends and family. David was known for being a dependable friend and someone others could always rely on.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
David is survived by his loving mother, Nancy (Carnegie) Zagar; his children, Kerstin and Andrew Zagar; his brother, Robert (Stacy) Zagar; his aunts and uncles, Barbara and (George Deceased) Garland and Marty and Rosa Zagar; his girlfriend, Kelly Perry; and many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Zagar; his grandparents, Harry and Edna Carnegie and Dorothy (Knowles) Zagar.
A funeral service will be held in Joliet, Illinois. A celebration of life will also be held in Wisconsin for those unable to attend the Illinois service.
