Stan Boyd Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hultgren Funeral Home and Cremation Center - Wheaton on Mar. 6, 2026.
Stanley P. Boyd, age 78, a resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away March 5, 2026. He was born October 14, 1947 in Normal, IL.

Stan Boyd passed away leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and devotion to family, friends, and community.

Stan was a proud Eagle Scout in his youth and a lifelong fan of football, a sport he enjoyed playing during his high school years at Fairbury Cropsey. His unwavering support for the Chicago Bears was well known to those who loved him, and he remained a loyal fan through every season. He carried the values of teamwork, loyalty, and perseverance throughout everything he did.

While attending Illinois State University, Stan met the love of his life, Donna Dent, on a blind date. With his characteristic humor, he often joked that every time he took her out, he "put a Dent in his car." Their playful beginning blossomed into a lifelong partnership, and they were married just one week after graduating-beginning a marriage that lasted more than 56 wonderful years.

Stan graduated from Illinois State University in 1969 with a teaching degree and spent one year in the classroom before beginning the career that would define much of his professional life. He went on to work for the State of Illinois, spending most of his career as a Bank Examiner. Ever the banker at heart, Stan generously shared his financial expertise by serving as treasurer for numerous organizations throughout the years.

He was also involved in a variety of Masonic organizations, where he valued fellowship, service, and community.

Stan had a lifelong love of model trains, a hobby that eventually evolved into a shared passion with Donna for dollhouse miniatures. He poured his creativity and patience into the craft, enjoying the opportunity to build, design, and create alongside his wife.

Above all, Stan was known for his generous heart and his willingness to help others whenever he could. He cherished his only daughter, Dawn, and nothing brought him greater happiness than the time he spent with his grandchildren, who filled his life with pride and joy.

Stan will be remembered for his humor, generosity, dedication to family, and the quiet ways he improved the lives of others. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Donna; his daughter Dawn (Charlie) Cameron; his grandchildren Noah, Evan, Christian (Anna) & Levi Cameron; and his brother David (Rita) Boyd. He was preceded in death by his brother Dennis Boyd and his sister Mary Ann (Brian) Hug.

A visitation will be held First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton, 715 N. Carlton Ave., Wheaton, IL 60187 on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 2:00 p.m.
