David Zuidema Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Vander Plaat Funeral Home - Wyckoff on Oct. 26, 2022.
David Zuidema Jr, 92, was born in Midland Park, NJ on June 25, 1930. He passed away and went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 22, 2022. David was a lifelong resident of Midland Park and a graduate of Pompton Lakes High School.
A Korean War veteran, David was stationed in Berlin, Germany as a member of the 759th Military Police Battalion from 1951-1953. David continued the family business and was president of Zuidema Septic Services for over 40 years.
David was married to his beloved wife Eleanor for almost 70 years. Together, they raised their 3 children in Midland Park and faithfully attended the Midland Park Gospel Hall. David and his wife also traveled the world extensively. He had a great interest in history locally and globally, eclipsed only by his interest and generosity towards others both near and far. What was said of him at his high school graduation could be said of him at the end of his life, "To know him well is to like him well."
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Olivia in 1992. David is survived by his loving wife Eleanor, his children David III (Mary), Lori Wooten, and Dirk (Rebecca); his 8 grandchildren: David T. (Colleen), Andrew, Kaleb (Samantha), Seth (Kathrine), Laura Chambers, Kaitlyn Chambers, Arie (Shakayla), and Chloe; and 3 great grandchildren, Dakotah, Desmond and Ezrah.
The Zuidema family will receive friends and family on Friday, October 28 from 4 pm until 8 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave, Wyckoff, NJ. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 29 at 10:30 am at the Faith Reformed Church, 95 Prospect Street, Midland Park, NJ 07432. An interment will follow at the Valleau Cemetery in Ridgewood.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
