Obituary of Davida Ann Owens
Davida Ann Owens, 80, of Mohawk, New York, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2024 at Ellis Hospital. Davida was born on April 13, 1944 in Ilion, New York to the late David and Margaret (Geer) Owens.
Davida was a teacher for her entire career. Through the years she worked at HFM BOCES, substituted at many of the local schools, and retired from the Herkimer ARC, where she taught job skills. She greatly enjoyed working with each and every one of her pupils through her many years of teaching. After retiring, Davida went on to work for the Herkimer Public Library. Davida's warmth and open heart never failed to touch anyone she interacted with, making them feel seen, loved and accepted. She never failed to see the best in everyone.
One of Davida's greatest passions in life was music. She loved to sing, play piano, and listen to all kinds of music. She was constantly humming and singing as she went about her day to day activities.
Her loving family includes her children, Tammer Cristman and wife Sarah Pettitt, Andrew Cristman and wife Michelle Cristman, Melissa Raleigh, Garrin Raleigh, Meghan Huyck and husband Joshua Huyck; her grandchildren, Daniel Pettitt, Noah Cristman-Pettitt, Katie Cristman, Marc Cristman, AJ Cristman, Madelyn Raleigh, Morgan Raleigh, Davida Konyn, Vincenzo Famolaro, Constantine Famolaro, Charlotte Huyck, and Leora Huyck; her best friend, Carol Ann Kovic; all of her "adopted children"; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Aside from her parents, David and Margaret, and her beloved step-father George Quayle, Davida is preceded in passing by her adored older sister, Catherine Hoke.
Funeral services will be held privately, at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
